What’s in for Putia takeaway – food is served in recyclable paper containers, paper bags with reusable bamboo cutlery.

Drinks – Plastic straws are out, paper straws are in.

Hot drinks – Reusable keep cups are in, attracting a 50 cent discount per coffee.

Plastic Free July behind the scenes

It’s all about reducing plastic and reducing food waste.

Separate bins are used for food scraps to paper and cardboard.

While a bin liner is used for food scraps, there is no bin liner for the paper and cardboard which goes straight to the council recycling bin.

Meanwhile, most of our food scraps are collected by locals in the community who use it to feed their backyard chooks or for their compost heaps.

Outside Putia on the footpath, there is a Grow Free stand, where community-minded Banyo folk, share their produce from their own vegetable and herb gardens.

Join us in Plastic Free July and do one thing to reduce the amount of plastic in your life.    Better still invite a friend to get on board with you.
